Everyday Life With ALS
by Robin Ashley (a work in progress)

My intent for this series of short film clips is to show-- for caregivers, recently diagnosed patients, families and friends -- what its like have and live with ALS. Many of these clips show me in some very humorous positions, which might cause some to wince or chuckle. Believe me, wincing and chuckling is part of the ALS journey.

Taking a Bath (1 minute)
This is Kim, Krystal and Leslee giving me my bath. I get pretty ripe by bath day, which only comes twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. I am particularly sensitive to smell, always have been. Believe me, I am really itching to get in the tub by bath day! The sling has been causing me some shoulder pain lately, because of my old injury from the stand assist. I owe my life to my sweet wife, Kim, without whom I couldn't survive. Kim usually takes the lead.

Communicating by Vocal Eyesing (7 minutes)

From Bed to Wheelchair (8 minutes)
My wife Kim shows my sister Michelle how to get me from my bed to my wheelchair using a Hoyer Lift. I hope you appreciate the next time you "jump" out of bed!
